A Montgomery County police officer responded to a residence to remove a snake from under a bed after the homeowner found out that the animal control agency couldn’t help.
The county police department on Friday posted on social media bodycam footage of Officer Austin Fogarty using a grabbing device to get the snake out from under a bed Wednesday night. The officer then grabbed the snake and carried it outside before returning it to nature.
Neither Officer Fogarty nor the elderly woman who called for help was harmed, according to Montgomery Community Media.

“I thought he must have grown up grabbing snakes or something because he grabbed it in an expert way,” but that in fact “it was his first time,” said Degan Bartels, a public information officer for the police department.
The woman, who did not provide her name, told WUSA that she called the police Wednesday to get the snake but was told that animal control staffers couldn’t come to her Montgomery Village home until the next day.
Authorities said the 2-foot-long snake may have come into the woman’s home from a nearby lake, according to WUSA.
