A Long Island district attorney has decided not to prosecute a police officer who killed the Hofstra University student and the armed intruder who was holding her hostage. Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice issued a 28-page report Wednesday, April 2, 2014, stating that a prosecution of Police Officer Nikolas Budlimic is not warranted. Budlimic fired at the intruder who was holding Rebello in a headlock when he was the first officer to arrive at the report of a home invasion in 2013. One round missed the intruder but struck and killed Rebello by mistake. (AP Photo/Mary Altaffer, File)
