Perez Hilton hospitalized after apparent self-harm livestream, deputies say

Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton was hospitalized this week after Miami-Dade deputies responded to reports that he was livestreaming self-harm from his South Florida home, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday night that it had received multiple calls reporting a person livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media. The statement did not name the blogger, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., but it came in response to an inquiry about him specifically.

In a follow-up statement late Tuesday night, the sheriff’s office said the man had been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he was receiving medical attention. Deputies said they spoke with family members at the scene who confirmed the man had been alone inside the residence.

The livestream, broadcast on TikTok, was subsequently unavailable, and Mr. Lavandeira’s TikTok account was reportedly suspended. It appeared to show him bloodied and in visible distress. Multiple outlets that reviewed clips of the video reported he could be seen using a knife to cut himself as viewers pleaded with him to stop and asked for a phone number so they could alert authorities.

Deputies said they “tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation.” The sheriff’s office said the approach reflects standard practice in mental health crises: giving space and time for communication rather than confrontation, which officials said lowers the risk of a violent standoff or injury to those involved.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals remained on scene to support Mr. Lavandeira’s family, according to the department.

Golden Artists Entertainment, the talent management firm representing Mr. Lavandeira, said in a statement Tuesday night that its executives were aware of “the concerning content circulating online involving our client” but had not been able to reach him directly.

“Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well being, as well as the well being of his family,” co-CEOs Dante Rusciolelli and Ms. Rebekah Kochan said, adding that the firm would not speculate further until it had confirmed information and asked that Hilton’s privacy be respected.

Mr. Lavandeira, 48, built a following in the early 2000s with a celebrity gossip blog known for mocking public figures’ scandals and missteps. He has since expanded into podcasting, co-hosting “The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker.”

Mr. Lavandeira recently moved from Las Vegas to his native Miami. In a June 17 Instagram video, he said, “God told me to move to Miami.” The announcement followed serious health complications earlier in 2026, when an ulcer reportedly perforated and led to sepsis and a 21-day hospitalization after he had been taking prescription flu medication without food.
