'Ayn-al-Arab' is a city in Aleppo Governorate in northern Syria. It is inhabited by Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen, and Armenians. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Ayn al-Arab had a population of 44,821 in the 2004 census. As a consequence of the Syrian civil war, the city came under control of the Kurdish YPG since 2012.
