PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the 2011 shooting of a Philadelphia teen who was slain on his front porch.
The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1f0yibf) said the mandatory life-without-parole sentence for 23-year-old Julian Frisby was handed down Friday after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder. His first trial last year ended in a hung jury.
Frisby denied killing 18-year son Jarell Seay, who was shot to death in front of his father on Easter Sunday in 2011.
Prosecutors said Seay was apparently the mistaken target of a dispute between two rival neighborhood gangs; he was not involved with either group.
Frisby said in court that he felt sorry for the victim’s family but insisted he was innocent.
