KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Maryville man has been charged with using a fake college diploma to get work as a case manager and bill TennCare for services he was not qualified to perform.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says 41-year-old Arlan Lee North forged a diploma from Lincoln Memorial University, indicating he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and used the document to get a job at the Helen Ross McNabb Center in Knoxville. The center submitted more than $135,000 in claims to TennCare for the services North provided, with North keeping more than $56,000.
North is charged with one count of theft over $10,000 and one count of criminal simulation.
Blount County deputies arrested North on Friday. He is being held without bond. Jail records did not list an attorney.
