Pistorius settles in alleged assault case

FILE In this file photo taken Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 double-amputee Olympian Oscar Pistorius, at the magistrates court in Pretoria, South Africa, when Pistorius was indicted on charges of murder and illegal possession of ammunition for the shooting death of his girlfriend on Valentine's Day. It was reported on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, that Oscar Pistorius' lawyers have been negotiating an out-of court settlement for nearly six months with representatives of the parents of slain girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, which a legal expert says could be raised by prosecutors in the Olympic athlete's murder trial. Lawyers for both sides said Thursday the negotiations are continuing and declined to comment on any details of a possible settlement, which media reports say could see the double-amputee runner pay in the region of $275,000 to Steenkamp's family.(AP Photo/Themba Hadebe, File)
