Curious George participates in Islamic holidays in latest book

The latest installment in the Curious George children's book series features the main character meeting a family of Muslims and celebrating the Islamic holy month of fasting known as Ramadan. The young monkey will visit a mosque, participate in the "iftar" meal when Muslims break their fast each day, and learn about the Islamic Eid holiday.

Karbala, one of the holiest cities to Shia Muslims, has started a technology race in the Middle East, with the use of high powered cinematography drones over its holy shrines. In footage recently released to the public on youtube by Digital Lion Studios, aerial video of the famous shrine of Imam Husain is seen for the first time in 4K resolution.

RAHAT HUSAIN: Muslims react swiftly to Chapel Hill, NC, killings

Reaction from the Muslim community was immediate. Statements were quickly released by Islamic groups such as Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Universal Muslim Association of America (UMAA), calling for investigations as to whether the murders could be classified as hate crimes.

A growing chorus of American Muslim voices are predicting a major incident of sectarian violence during the Islamic Hajj in Saudi Arabia this year. The prediction is based upon the increased strife in the Middle East.

HUSAIN: American Muslims march on Saudi Embassy to protest extremism

Blaming the Saudi government for exporting extremism around the Muslim world, a cluster of American Muslim groups joined a protest at the Saudi Embassy this week. Organized by the Chicago based Al Baqee Organization, the rally was held in remembrance of a multitude of Islamic heritage sites that were destroyed by the Saudi Royal family upon assuming power nine decades ago.

HUSAIN: Counting violent Muslim deaths by country in 2014

More than 37,000 Muslims have been killed in protracted violence in 2014 alone, despite the fact that five months remain in the calendar year. The count takes only a few countries into consideration, including Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, and Burma, but the results are chilling nonetheless.
