Noah Wyle, star of HBO’s “The Pitt,” says he always signs autographs for kids after an incident with Eddie Murphy that took place when he was 9 years old.

Mr. Wyle, 55, told Amy Poehler on her podcast “Good Hang” about the negative interaction.

“I met Eddie once when I was a kid. I asked him for his autograph, and I said, ‘I really like you on ‘SNL.’ And he goes, ‘What are you doing up that late?’ And I said, ‘Can I have your autograph?’ He goes, ‘F— off, man,’” Mr. Wyle said.

Mr. Wyle continued, “I always sign an autograph. Whenever a 9-year-old needs an autograph from me, I sign that so fast.”

Mr. Wyle won his second Emmy last month for his role on the medical drama “The Pitt” and was named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” on Tuesday.
