Kim Kardashian said on the Oct. 29 episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians” that she was recently diagnosed with esophagitis, news outlets report.
The 46-year-old said, “I’ve seen a couple of doctors, and it’s been heavy on my mind lately.”
Her father, Robert Kardashian, the attorney who was part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team, died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at age 59, two months after his diagnosis.

“With my dad having passed away from esophagus cancer, hopefully I can just take medication and this will go away,” Ms. Kardashian said.
A preview of next week’s episode shows her entering a hospital, where she says in a voiceover, “The doctor says my esophagus has these irregularities, and I have to have them cut out. It’s the same thing my dad had.”
The Mayo Clinic describes esophagitis as an inflammation of the tissues lining the esophagus, and that while it is a different condition from esophageal cancer, it can be associated with an increased risk of developing it.
The episode aired days after Ms. Kardashian revealed in her authorized biography, “Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future,” by Jonathan Van Meter, that her father’s last words to her were, “I know you’re going to be good – I can see it.”
