OPINION:
Bravo and kudos to President Trump for offering a 1% reward to any American citizen who blows the whistle on the widespread fraud that has infected our government and ripped off hardworking taxpayers (“Trump offers bounty for Americans who spot fraud,” Web, Oct. 20).
We are $40 trillion in debt and straddled with a Supreme Court that inhibits the administration from increasing revenue through tariffs and controlling costs through stricter illegal immigration reform.
I applaud Mr. Trump’s outside-the-box initiative, which I have dubbed the Trump 1% Rule (TOPR for short).

Over the weekend, I noticed dozens of nonsensical “No Kings” rallies across the country. Mr. Trump does not act like a king; he acts like the country’s CEO. That, to me, was one of his selling points.
In his 2007 book, “Think Big & Kick Ass,” Mr. Trump wrote that he likes employees “who save the company money. Companies suffer when employees do not make enough of an effort to control costs.”
As I see it, if Mr. Trump is the CEO of the country, all U.S. citizens should view themselves as “employees” who look out for the company’s best interests and bottom line. This is a form of patriotism, and with that comes the TOPR commission.
Because the federal budget is so astronomical, just 1% of fraud savings could easily be life-changing money for any working person who uncovers malfeasance moving our country to the brink of bankruptcy.
This TOPR idea could easily go down in history as the most successful incentive program ever — and could ultimately be one of President Trump’s most enduring accomplishments.
