Adam Brody, the star of Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This,” appeared in a video Monday supporting Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

Mr. Brody appeared in a video for Mr. El-Sayed’s campaign telling Michiganders to vote. The actor added that he wants “money out of politics” and agreed with the candidate’s stance of “Medicare for all.”

Mr. Brody, who is Jewish and plays a rabbi on the show, has made headlines recently for supporting Palestine and calling the situation in Gaza a “genocide.”

“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” he said in a September interview. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”

His co-star, Tovah Feldshuh, and series creator Erin Foster have both publicly disagreed with his statement. Ms. Foster created the show after her own experiences of converting to Judaism for her husband.

During his campaign, Mr. El-Sayed has been critical of military aid to Israel and AIPAC. He also said during an October rally that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu encouraged President Trump to begin the Iran war.

“The money that we are spending to subsidize apartheid in the West Bank is money that should be used on the West Side [of Detroit],” the candidate said in a recent interview with “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart. “That’s our money. It should be spent here.”

On Thursday, Mr. El-Sayed again criticized U.S. tax money going to foreign armies.

“It shouldn’t be this hard to pay your taxes and know that that money is going to be spent on you and your kids rather than dropping bombs on somebody else and their kids,” he said.
