OPINION:
Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is the political left’s answer to its long-unfilled position of alpha male role model.
A Marine Corps and Maryland Army National Guard veteran, Mr. Platner would supposedly hand a Senate seat from Maine, currently held by a Republican, to the new breed of Democrats (one that conveniently hides the party’s progressive, socialist core).
Yet a closer look at Mr. Platner should take into account the core values of the Marine Corps (honor, courage and commitment) and the U.S. Army (loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage).
Measured against these, Mr. Platner can be termed only a failure.
Anyone holding elected office has a duty to represent all constituents and to work for the betterment of each of them. Someone with a consistent history of moral and ethical failures is not someone we should elevate to the position of United States senator.
Unfortunately, the Democratic Party is riddled with politicians and bureaucrats whose only goals are power and wealth at any cost.
