Rock legend Rod Stewart nearly fainted Friday during a performance in Utah, multiple news outlets report.
The 81-year-old singer was seen to be struggling on stage at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City. He leaned on instruments, barriers and a pole at the side of the stage before stage crew members came to his aid. One provided an oxygen tank while another applied a cold compress to his neck.
After recovering, Mr. Stewart told the crowd he had “nearly fainted” and declared, “The show must go on.” He finished the concert seated in a chair.
The incident came just weeks after Mr. Stewart had canceled a San Diego show due to laryngitis.
The performance was part of his “One Last Time” farewell tour. His next show is scheduled for July 31 at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York.
Mr. Stewart is known for songs such as “Maggie May,” “Young Turks” and “Forever Young.”
