Rosie O’Donnell claps back at Trump with ‘mirror’ jab

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell responded to the White House’s description of her as a “total slob” by posting an unflattering photo of President Trump over the weekend, extending a public feud with Mr. Trump that stretches back nearly two decades.

O’Donnell, 64, shared a photo of the 80-year-old president to Instagram on Sunday, showing him with his hair blown back and his shirt tucked tightly around his torso. “This is the guy calling me a slob #mirrormirror,” she wrote in the caption.

The post came days after White House spokesperson Davis Ingle called Ms. O’Donnell a nasty woman and a total slob in a statement, saying her brain had been “completely destroyed by Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The comment capped a four-night run in which Ms. O’Donnell guest-hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” while Mr. Kimmel was on his summer break, using her nightly monologues to needle the president.

During her Wednesday show, Ms. O’Donnell referred to Mr. Trump as “President Petty Roosevelt” and joked about his relationship with White House aide Natalie Harp, telling him it was “time to hang up your wig and let Natalie tuck you in.” Earlier in the week, she had waved to the president on air and called him “Mango Mussolini.” She closed out her stint Thursday with a parody song set to the tune of “Danny Boy,” ending with a call for Mr. Trump to resign.

Ms. O’Donnell wrapped her hosting duties Thursday following other guest hosts including Tiffany Haddish, Colman Domingo, Ike Barinholtz and Anthony Anderson.

Ms. O’Donnell and Mr. Trump have publicly sparred since the mid-2000s, when she criticized him during her time as a co-host on “The View.” Mr. Trump referenced Ms. O’Donnell as recently as July 24, during the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner, calling her “a sick young woman, sick older woman, I guess now I have to say.”
