OPINION:
The population of Israel is 9.152 million people. The population of the United States is 35 times as large, with 326.7 million people. To put things into perspective, we need to extrapolate what happened in Israel into what it would be like if the same thing happened in the U.S.
If we suffered in the same way that Israel has, we would have 49,000 people dead. If women were raped and murdered like Israeli woman were, we would have 9,800 American women who had been raped and killed. If we had lost the equivalent number of hostages, our enemy would be holding 7,700 American citizens.
How would Texas react if an army crossed its borders and killed 50,000 Texans and raped and murdered 10,000 women? Would the men of Texas want a quick cease-fire with the monsters who assaulted women, shot and killed babies in their cribs, and wiped out entire towns?
Furthermore, would the rest of America just expect Texas to fight back for a few days, then “come to the negotiating table” with the murderers who still want them all dead? Even the Nazis, as sadistic and deranged as they were, made sure that their victims were awake before they executed them.
Before we can begin to speak of any end to this war, we need to come to grips with the fact that nothing like it has ever happened before. We need to understand the immensity of the incurable wound that has devastated Israel.
