I was watching the Super Bowl on Sunday and was treated to what was described as the “Black national anthem” followed by the “White national anthem” (“Sheryl Lee Ralph soars into ‘Lift Every Voice’ at Super Bowl,” Web, Feb. 12).

Well, how wonderful is that? Black people are celebrating their “blackness” in so many ways that I thought, “Why don’t we create an entirely “Black NFL,” or BNFL? In addition to having only Black players, it will have only Black coaches, Black fans and a Black commissioner.

Of course, it would have exclusively Black ownership, and its games should be played only on a Black TV network. Every Sunday, Monday and Thursday, fans will then be able to watch their respective BNFL teams. So there might be “BNFL Dallas Cowboys vs. BNFL Philadelphia Eagles.”

Conversely, we can start a brand-new White NFL, or WNFL. We can have all-White teams and coaches and a white commissioner, as well as during-game commercials featuring only Whites. Wouldn’t that be great?

I think it would be so great, in fact, that I am asking all NFL fans to stop watching that league’s games until we get our separate, new leagues. That’s fair, right?
