CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire is getting a housing assistance grant of nearly $1.15 million for people recovering from substance use disorder, U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said Friday.

“Stable and secure housing is a necessity, especially for people in recovery from a drug dependency,” Shaheen said. “However, housing costs in New Hampshire are making it tougher to deliver shelter to those who are trying to get their lives back on track. I fought for this funding because we need more support in New Hampshire for Granite Staters struggling with substance use disorders.”

The funding will be administered by the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority.

The funding will help cover initial occupancy costs, said Katherine Easterly Marty, the authority’s executive director.
