DETROIT (AP) - Detroit firefighters are battling a blaze at a senior citizens apartment complex on the city’s east side.
Authorities say the fire at The Reverend Ann Johnson Elderly Apartment building was reported around 8 p.m. Monday.
Detroit Fire Department Deputy Commissioner David Fornell says building residents include people on oxygen and in wheelchairs.
Fornell says it isn’t known how many residents are in the building. He says fire department personnel will have to conduct a detailed search to make certain all residents have been rescued from the building.
Authorities say it wasn’t immediately known how the fire started.
