Maryland running back Lorenzo Harrison III announced in an Instagram post Monday night that he will have knee surgery Wednesday.
It is not yet known how much of the season he will miss or how and when he injured his knee.
“Wednesday morning, I’ll be undergoing another knee surgery as a result of this play,” Harrison wrote alongside a photo of himself playing last week against Penn State. “I can’t even start to explain how bad it hurts to be taken away from something your heart desires. However, I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, good or bad. So as much as my mind is racing at the moment, I know it will work out in my favor.”
Hamstring and knee injuries cut Harrison’s 2018 season short, as well.
The redshirt junior had just seven rushes for 70 yards this year, but the Terrapins will miss him nonetheless. This news comes a week after running back Jake Funk tore his ACL.
Maryland still has Anthony McFarland Jr., Javon Leake and Tayon Fleet-Davis to run the ball, but the depth behind them is now shaky.
