LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Oklahoma are investigating a fatal weekend shooting.
Public Information Officer Timothy Jenkins of the Lawton Police Department says officers were dispatched to a residence after receiving reports of a shooting shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. Officers say the victim, identified as Eric Nelson, was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Nelson’s age and residence were not immediately available.
Television station KSWO reports that later Saturday, officers were dispatched to a different residence in connection with a robbery. There, they made contact with a man who claimed that someone matching Nelson’s description had pulled a knife and attempted to rob him. The man told police he then pulled a handgun and fired multiple rounds at Nelson.
