BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Police have recovered a dog that was stolen from a man after he collapsed in a Colorado convenience store and later died.
The Daily Camera reports Longmont Deputy Chief Jeff Satur found the small dog named Sampson while investigating a tip on the pet’s location Wednesday.
Police say 59-year-old Robert Corbey walked Sampson to a 7-Eleven and suffered a seizure and fell Tuesday. He later died at a hospital.
Police say a woman snatched the dog while first responders were attending to Corbey inside the store.
Sampson was found being walked by two people. They told police that the woman had given them Sampson.
Satur says police are working to determine the woman’s identity and if they will pursue charges.
Sampson has been returned to Corbey’s family.
