Recent allegations against former Vice President Joseph R. Biden of inappropriate behavior have done little to sway Democrats from potentially voting for him in the 2020 presidential election, a new poll shows.

Forty-five percent of liberals said Mr. Biden’s accusations of inappropriate displays of affection would make no difference in their vote, while 14 percent said it would make them somewhat or much more likely to vote for him, according to the poll conducted by Politico/Morning Consult.

Thirty-two percent of liberals said they were less likely to vote for Mr. Biden following the allegations, with the results divided evenly between men and women.

Alternatively, not many liberals see it as sexual harassment or assault. Only 13 percent of Democrats see the accusations against Mr. Biden as him committing “sexual harassment and assault against women”

Thirty-six percent see it as inappropriate but not harassment, while 23 percent said he “has not behaved inappropriately or sexually harassed women.”

However, Mr. Biden’s favorability took a hit, dropping five points among liberal voters.

Mr. Biden responded to the allegations in an April 3 video posted on Twitter, promising to be respectful of other people’s personal space.

The former vice president has been polling as the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, despite not having yet officially entered the race.

He said Friday he is “very close” to deciding whether he will run in the 2020 election.

The poll surveyed 1992 registered voters from April 5-7, with a margin of error of plus/minus 2 percent.
