CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The president of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests says she’s stepping down next fall after more than two decades of leadership.
Jane Difley said Tuesday she’s ready to spend more time enjoying the forests that she’s spent 22 years helping to protect. She plans to retire on Oct. 1, 2019.
Under Difley’s tenure, the society said it more than doubled the size of its conserved forest reservations to 56,000 acres and was involved in protecting more than 290,000 acres overall, including the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters in northern New Hampshire.
The trustees will convene a committee to start a search for a new president.
Before joining the society, Difley was executive director of the Vermont Natural Resources Council.
