Free agent safety Eric Reid reportedly hasn’t drawn any interest from teams around the NFL this week. Reid took to Twitter Friday to defend against a “notion” that he can sign with an NFL team “for cheap” after he participated in the anthem-kneeling protest alongside Colin Kaepernick:
The notion that I can be a great signing for your team for cheap, not because of my skill set but because I’ve protested systemic oppression, is ludicrous. If you think is, then your mindset is part of the problem too.

GMs aren’t the hold up broski. It’s ownership. People who know football know who can play. People who know me, know my character. https://t.co/M9ULziZg5V

Reid played for the San Francisco 49ers for the last five seasons. He was the first player to follow Kaepernick’s lead and kneel during the playing of the national anthem before football games to protest police brutality against black men.
Unlike Kaepernick, who opted out of his contract with the 49ers after 2016, Reid was not re-signed by the 49ers when his contract was up after 2017.
Reid, 26, has recorded 10 interceptions and 264 tackles in his five NFL seasons.
