PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Two Rhode Island men will avoid jail time for a drug lab that caught fire and destroyed a building in Providence.

WPRI-TV reports a judge sentenced Christopher White and Graeme Marshall to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service Friday. White was also ordered to undergo mandatory drug testing.

The judge cited the men’s lack of a criminal record in his decision.

Authorities say White’s indoor plant-growing equipment company was one of two tenants in the building destroyed in the 2015 fire. Prosecutors say the two men operated a drug lab in the space using a flammable liquid that turns marijuana into butane hash oil.

Investigators found butane tanks and burned marijuana on the floor of the building after the fire.
