MIAMI (AP) - Authorities say a Florida man was found dead from an apparent suicide following a six-hour standoff with police.
The Miami Herald reports that 45-year-old Alfredo Alvarez barricaded himself inside a Miami-Dade County home on Monday. Police say they’re not sure when the man actually killed himself.
Police says they responded to a domestic disturbance call Monday morning, and officers heard gunshots when they arrived. Officers never made contact with Alvarez, but they did communicate with a 12-year-old girl who was hiding under a bed.

SWAT team members eventually breached the home and found Alvarez dead. No other injuries were reported.
