Capital One Arena’s section 118 will play host to a unique promotion during Georgetown’s Jan. 20 game against St. John’s. The Hoyas announced that the area will transform into the “Actual Reality” seating section, where cell phones will be banned to encourage face-to-face interaction.

Fans who elect to sit in the “Actual Reality” area will have to pick up their paper tickets at will call instead of using a smartphone to check in to the arena. They will also be provided with nametags, a letter writing station, and a paper statsheet at halftime (delivered by an actual human being).
And for those wanting a photograph, there will be a Polaroid on hand to take any necessary pictures.
“The future is all virtual reality, and soon you won’t even have to go to games — you can just sit in your living room and watch,” Chris Grosse, the athletic department’s head of marketing, told ESPN. “My job is to get people to come to games, so we wanted to kind of pick fun at the way things are trending and showcase that we still have a really fun product and it’s worth it to actually come out to the arena and experience a game without having your face in your phone.”
