Wizards announce training camp roster

The Washington Wizards announced their training camp roster Thursday afternoon. There were no surprises.

Washington will bring 19 players to training camp in Richmond beginning Sept. 26, though the Wizards’ roster has little wiggle room.

Carrick Felix, a second-year guard from Arizona State and Donald Sloan, a fifth-year guard from Texas A&M, are the late additions to the training camp roster. Rookie forwards Devin Robinson and Mike Young are on two-way contracts, which means they cannot spend more than 45 days with their NBA team and will spend the majority of the season in the G League, otherwise their contract status has to change. Take those four from the mix, and the Wizards have 15 players, the roster maximum.

One wrinkle for Washington is that starting power forward Markieff Morris is expected to have sports hernia surgery Friday. He and his twin brother, Marcus, are also part of an ongoing felony assault trial in which the two are accused of being part of a five-man group that beat a man in 2015 in Arizona. The Morris twins have pleaded not guilty.

As a result, Morris may not be ready or available for the season opener Oct. 18 at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Wizards training camp runs from Sept. 26-30 at VCU’s Siegel Center in Richmond. Their preseason opener is Oct. 2.
