RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Democrat mounting a primary challenge says his campaign office was broken into and vandalized.
Alex Mejias said in a statement Tuesday that cash and a suitcase were stolen from his office. He said sensitive campaign documents were rifled through and may have been stolen as well.
Mejias said his office suffered water damage from vandalized piping. He said his office was the only building targeted in the area.
Mejias, an attorney, is facing Del. Delores McQuinn in a Democratic primary.
