CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Police in suburban Philadelphia say a mom loading her children into her SUV at the start of the school day accidently backed over her 6-year-old daughter, killing the girl.
Police in Chester say the 29-year-old woman had put her 4-year-old in a back car seat Friday morning and was pulling out of a tight parking space to enable her other children to get into the vehicle.
They say that’s when the 4-year-old got out of the car seat and started lowering the window and trying to open the door.
The mother tells police she thought she put the vehicle in park so she could deal with the 4-year-old, but it was actually in reverse. The SUV rolled back, hitting the 6-year-old and a 10-year-old who was not seriously injured.
The mother isn’t facing charges.
