DOYLINE, La. (AP) - Authorities say a man died after the fishing boat he and his girlfriend were on capsized in a Bossier Parish lake.

Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Rod White says 35-year-old Kevin Allen Phillips, of Elm Grove, had gone fishing with his girlfriend Cassie Havard on Lake Bistineau late Monday night when the boat capsized.

News outlets report authorities were able to rescue Havard, who duck hunters found clinging to a tree in the water around 6:40 a.m. Divers found Phillips’ body in the lake a few hours later.

Havard was treated at a hospital and then was released Tuesday afternoon after her body temperature showed no signs of hypothermia.

The Wildlife & Fisheries Department is investigating what caused the boat to capsize.
