Small quakes felt throughout Alaska, but no damage reports

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A series of minor earthquakes have been felt over a wide part of Alaska but there have been no reports of damage.

The latest was a magnitude 5.4 quake Thursday morning located in the North Pacific Ocean, about 65 miles (104 kilometers) northwest of Kodiak. Federal officials said there was no tsunami danger associated with the quake, which was recorded at a depth of about 40 miles (64 kilometers).

It was felt in Kodiak, in several Kenai Peninsula cities and about 200 miles away, in Anchorage.

Smaller quakes were recorded late Wednesday. A magnitude 4.6 temblor located about 65 miles (104 kilometers) southwest of Denali National Park rumbled communities north of Anchorage. Another magnitude 3.1 quake near the Kenai Peninsula community of Fox River was felt in Homer and Anchor Point.
