LOVINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A former Hobbs police officer accused of tampering with public records has been sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old Arnulfo Rojas also lost his certification as a police officer in New Mexico.
Rojas entered a no contest plea to one count of tampering with public records, a fourth-degree felony.
He was alleged to have unlawfully changed a police report to show he was the arresting officer.
A judge accepted the conditional discharge agreement at Monday’s sentencing in Lovington District Court.
Rojas’ 18 months of supervised probation may revert to unsupervised after nine months.
