Paris police have stated that recent arrests of Islamic State terrorists, who were planning additional attacks in France, showed that the Islamic State is directing terror attacks abroad from locations in the Middle East.

Seven young adult male Muslims were arrested on plans to create “an enormous act of terror,” inside the European country. French Prime Minister Valls said over 15,000 terror suspects were being monitored in France and hundreds of French nationals were in Syria fighting for the Islamic State. He also said the state of emergency in France would be extended, CNN reported.

“A Strasbourg commando team, and also a man arrested in Marseille, were given instructions to acquire arms. The instructions were given by a commander from the Iraqi-Syrian region via encrypted apps,” Paris prosecutor Francois Molins told a news conference, Reuters reported.
