CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a South Florida teen is facing a vehicular homicide charge following a fatal crash in a stolen car.

The Sun Sentinel (https://goo.gl/KfVrCW ) reports that 53-year-old Christianne Weiner, a teacher at Coral Springs Elementary School, was killed in Tuesday’s crash.

Authorities say Coral Springs police began pursuing a Toyota Corolla Tuesday morning because it had been reported stolen in Miami Springs. Authorities say the 17-year-old boy driving the car attempted to flee, ran a red light and collided with Weiner’s Mercedes-Benz sedan.

Officials say Weiner was declared dead at a nearby hospital, and her 11-year-old son was airlifted to a Fort Lauderdale hospital.

Authorities say the Corolla’s 17-year-old driver and three passengers were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The teen driver faces multiple charges, besides vehicular homicide. One of his passengers faces a grand theft charge.
