NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City are investigating after a 21-year-old man was shot on Staten Island and died a short while later at a local hospital.
The unidentified man was shot multiple times in the torso around 1 p.m. Monday in the Stapleton section of the borough. He was pronounced dead approximately an hour later at Richmond University Medical Center.
Evidence markers were set up outside the Green Apple Deli, where an officer was posted to prevent pedestrians from walking through the crime scene.
An employee of the nearby Broad Street Supermarket told The Staten Island Advance that he recognized the victim as a man who frequented the area and who he had given money to in the past.
Police don’t have any suspects in custody at this time.
