JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) - Police in Johnston say a 28-year-old woman stabbed her father during an argument before she was fatally shot by him.
Investigators are still trying to determine what set off the deadly dispute in the family’s home on Saturday.
Deputy Police Chief Daniel Parrillo told the Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/2i5OMst ) on Sunday that Jessica Sutherland grabbed a knife and stabbed 55-year-old Robert Sutherland in the chest, before the man shot his daughter.
Robert Sutherland was brought to a hospital and is expected to survive.
Parillo says the investigation is continuing and no charges have been filed at this time.
He says police responded to domestic incidents at the home several times in recent years and Jessica Sutherland, who lived in Providence, had previously been arrested for domestic assault.
