RIPLEY, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in Tippah County are trying to identify a man whose body was found by a hunter in the woods.

WLBT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2hmKvj6 ) that the body was found Saturday afternoon, near the Union County line.

Tippah County sheriff’s investigator Jason Willis said the body was discovered around 30 feet into a wooded area off a county road. Investigators haven’t determined how the man died.

Willis said investigators are treating the case as a homicide until proven otherwise.

He said investigators believe the victim was in his late 50s or early 60s when he died. Willis said the strongest lead for investigators is that the man had a tattoo - “BFW” - on his right bicep.
