MITCHELLS, Va. (AP) - Gov. Terry McAuliffe has granted a full pardon to a man who was cleared of committing a double murder he was serving a prison sentence for.
The Daily Progress (https://bit.ly/2h3ZdxO ) reports Robert Paul Davis learned Friday that he had been granted a full pardon. Davis had been granted a conditional pardon in December 2015 that allowed him to leave the Coffeewood Correctional Center in Culpeper, where he had been serving a 23-year sentence.
Davis was in prison for the 2003 killing of a mother and her son in Crozet. Davis had entered an Alford plea deal to murder charges in 2004, maintaining his innocence while acknowledging that there was enough evidence to result in a conviction. Later, two others convicted in the killings acknowledged Davis was not involved.
