The Caribbean islands, very close to the continental United States, are becoming a breeding ground for ISIS to recruit terrorist fighters.  Many of the foreign fighters have traveled to Syria to fight for the Islamic State and could possibly return home due to insufficient resources in the jurisdictions to fight the problem. These fighters could then travel to the United States.

Isis recently released a video which shows several men and some of their children training to fight and going to school.  The men are from Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica is another prime island for ISIS recruitment.

Express UK quoted one of the fighters,  “Allah is inciting us to fight the friends of Satan for they are weak.  This is a time when the Prophet, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that there will come a time when all the nations of the world will gather around to wipe you out?  Who? The Muslim. As we speak today, over 60 nations of this world sign on to wipe out us, but Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, is with us.  I hope and pray that Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, will guide us and protect us and bring us to this land so that we will make jihad for this cause and to gain the reward of Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He.”

A U.S. general recently warned that about 100 fighters had fled to Syria to fight for ISIS from Caribbean nations.  ISIS has also hacked government computer networks in multiple island nations.  The United Nations has also warned that certain islands are being used as recruitment centers by ISIS.
