BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) - After a death, Glynn County officials want to discourage unruly seaside parties held by graduating high school students.

The county commission passed a resolution this week urging landlords not to rent their properties to teenagers intent on underage drinking.

At a meeting, Donna Collins told local officials about her son, William, who died last year of alcohol poisoning the night before he was supposed to graduate.

The commissioners passed a nonbinding resolution asking landlords to help curb the custom.

Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering told the Florida Times-Union that his officers will be increasing patrols during graduation week to deter unlawful or reckless behavior.
