ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman charged along with her husband in the killing of a popular St. Johnsbury teacher intends to use an insanity defense at her upcoming trial.
The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/R3oE2t) Patricia Prue’s lawyer says his client has a lengthy history of mental disease, with extensive treatment before and after she was held without bail in the case.
The 35-year-old Prue and her husband, 32-year-old Allen Prue, face kidnapping and first-degree murder charges in the March 2012 death of Melissa Jenkins.

Prosecutors also are planning to offer testimony on Patricia Prue’s mental state.
Both Prues have pleaded not guilty.
