MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - J.D. Weatherspoon and Justin Drummond combined for 32 points as Toledo held on for a 73-69 victory over Central Michigan Tuesday night.
Toledo held a comfortable 69-59 lead with 3:18 remaining following a layup by Drummond, who finished with 15 points. Braylon Rayson and John Simons nailed two straight 3-point jumpers and Chris Fowler made a layup with 55 seconds left as Central Michigan pulled within two, 69-67. Nathan Boothe made two free throws, but Simons answered with a layup with 7 seconds left. Drummond then made two free throws to seal the victory.
Toledo (25-5, 13-4 Mid-American Conference) remains atop the conference’s west division, one game ahead of Western Michigan, which it defeated in overtime 96-85 Saturday.

Witherspoon had 17 points and Julius Brown added 12 with four assists for Toledo.
