HUNTLEY, Ill. (AP) - Authorities have identified an elderly woman who apparently wandered away from her northern Illinois home and was later found dead in the snow by a passing driver.

The Kane County coroner’s office has identified the victim as Bodil E. Becker of Huntley. An autopsy was performed Monday, but a cause of death hasn’t yet been determined pending further studies.

McHenry County Undersheriff Andy Zinke says the woman’s body, clad in nightgown and shoes, was found Saturday near Huntley. She may have had dementia.

Zinke says it’s important to check on elderly family members during cold weather.
