DENVER (AP) - People with unused prescription medications will be encouraged to dispose them at approved locations under a bill that passed the Colorado House.
Lawmakers say the proposal is aimed at reducing overdoses and hospitalization because of prescription-drug abuse. The House passed the bill on a 52-12 vote Wednesday. The Senate will now consider it.
The measure would direct the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to create a program to collect and dispose of unused medications at approved collection sites.
