CORTEZ, Colo. (AP) - A former Montezuma County undersheriff charged with using taxpayer money to pay for personal items, including firearms, is considering a plea deal that includes jail time.
The Cortez Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1j2BTZr ) Robin Cronk is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, and his attorney says her client is considering a deal that includes a 30-day jail sentence. Cronk has requested he be able to choose a detention center other than the Montezuma County jail because of safety concerns and conflicts of interest with local authorities.
Cronk, charged with 17 embezzlement counts and a count of official misconduct involving purchases totaling more than $7,400, is accused trying to sell some of the firearms by posting classified ads.

The judge rejected the original plea deal in February because it didn’t include jail time.
