JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Site preparation is starting at Arkansas State University’s new Student Activity Center.

The $11 million cost of the project includes the new center and relocation of the soccer complex. Officials said Friday that the money is coming from a bond issue that trustees approved in September.

The center is being built at the northeast corner of the campus near the football stadium. The 78,000-square-foot center will be available for numerous student groups, including intramurals, club sports and recreation.

The soccer complex is being moved to a new location that will be shared with the varsity track and field program. The facility is to be ready for the fall season.
