LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a Los Angeles subway rider.

A Los Angeles County district attorney’s statement says 24-year-old Angelo Correa was charged Tuesday with one count of murder with the special allegation that he personally used a deadly weapon.

Thirty-three-year-old Los Angeles resident Jose Velasco-Alvarado was killed Jan. 13 after a brief verbal exchange with his assailant, an incident captured by a security camera on the Metro Red Line train as it traveled near Hollywood.

Prosecutors said Correa walked away after the argument before turning around, walking back and fatally stabbing Velasco-Alvarado.

Correa was arrested Friday after a search of his North Hollywood home.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday. It’s not clear whether he’s hired an attorney.
