WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A suburban New York family therapist has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing two of his patients - a 12-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman.

The Westchester County district attorney says Mark Bernardini (buhr-nahr-DEE’-nee) also was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years of post-release supervision.

He pleaded guilty in January to a criminal sex act and forcible touching.

When he’s released he will have to register as a sex offender.

The criminal activity occurred at his Bronxville office and at his home office in North Salem.

In both cases, the victims alerted their parents.
